Creating Posts

Conversation is what drives the CoLab. Members can create posts at two levels: community or group.

Create a post

Locate the Share a post link in the "Share with the community" area at the top of the page.

You'll be taken to a form to create your post. Provide a title (subject) and the text of your message. You can also attach an image or file if you wish (it's optional). If you do include a file or image, be sure to click the Upload button before you proceed.

Next you need to decide where you would like your post shared. Click on the "Add Group(s)" field, and from the drop-down menu, select the group you want to share your post with (you can select more than one).

  • Selecting Community will share your post on the community's feed page.
  • Selecting a specific group (e.g. Breastfeeding) will share your post on that group's feed page.

If you want to share your post with more than one group, simply repeat the step above to add another group. The groups you've selected will appear in the field above the drop-down menu.

When you're finished, click the Share Post button.

Where your post displays

All posts will be displayed in the feed of the group(s) they were shared with.

Please note that, regardless of where they're shared, all posts will be visible to everyone who is a member of the community. This is because all CoLab groups are open by default, which means that they are accessible to any member of the community. The only exception is if you create a post in a private group, in which case it will only be visible to other members of that group.

Adding an attachment

An attachment can be an image, a file or a video, but only one attachment is allowed per post. To attach something to your post, click on the Choose File button underneath the text field where you entered your post.

Clicking on this link will bring up a file browser on your computer. Double-click on the file you want to attach, click the Upload button, and then proceed as you would with a normal post.

Remember to Use Tags!

Tags make it easy for everyone to find related content, so remember to add tags that are relevant to your post. To add tags, just start typing in the Add Tags text field. A list of suggested tags will display below the field.

You can click on an existing tag to add it to your post. If you don't see an existing tag that matches what you're searching for, you can create a new tag by just typing it in the field.

You can use multiple tags, but just be sure to separate each tag with a comma.
